Non-photochemical laser-induced nucleation of supercooled glacial acetic acid.
Non-photochemical laser-induced nucleation (NPLIN) of glacial acetic acid (GAA) is demonstrated. The fraction of samples nucleated depends linearly on peak laser power density at low powers (<100 MW cm(-2)) with a threshold of (9.0 ± 4.2) MW cm(-2); at higher laser powers the fraction reaches a plateau of 0.75 ± 0.24 (2σ uncertainties). A simple model based on polarizability of pre-nucleating c...
متن کاملAcetic acid fermentation of acetobacter pasteurianus: relationship between acetic acid resistance and pellicle polysaccharide formation.
Acetobacter pasteurianus strains IFO3283, SKU1108, and MSU10 were grown under acetic acid fermentation conditions, and their growth behavior was examined together with their capacity for acetic acid resistance and pellicle formation. In the fermentation process, the cells became aggregated and covered by amorphous materials in the late-log and stationary phases, but dispersed again in the secon...
متن کاملInvestigations of the pore formation in the lead selenide films using glacial acetic acid- and nitric acid-based electrolyte
We report a novel synthesis of porous PbSe layers on Si substrates using anodic electrochemical treatment of PbSe/CaF2/Si(111) epitaxial structures in an electrolyte solution based on glacial acetic acid and nitric acid. Electron microscopy, x-ray diffractometry, and local chemical microanalysis investigations results for the porous layers are presented. Average size of the synthesized mesopore...
متن کاملReaction between Thiouracil derivatives and Chloroasetic acid in gas and soluble phases:A theoretical study
Thiouracilis a historically relevant anti-thyroid preparation. Because of its structure you can find it in various chemical reactions differently. In this study, the reaction of Thiouracil with Chloroacetic acid and the formation of their additive products has been investigated. This reaction is aconcerted process, and it has not been determined yet by exhaustive mechanisms. From the potential ...
متن کاملAcetic Acid in Cholera
The treatment of cholera by acetic acid, suggested by Dr. Greene in the September number of the Indian Medical Gazette, deserves, I think, to be put to the test by the profession. When I perused Dr. Greene's article, it struck me that, from its strong antiseptic property, acetic acid may do good by counteracting the morbific influence of the cholera miasm in the blood. Besides, being a stimulan...
